Post 5: Computers in the Workplace
Computers play a pivotal role in healthcare; they are
responsible for scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records,
streamlining daily workflows, and reducing time spent manually writing and
entering patient data (Hargreaves, 2022). Telemedicine has become an extremely
popular option for patients and physicians. Telemedicine uses electronic
information and communication technologies to deliver healthcare services from
a distance, giving those in rural areas or those unable to take unnecessary hospital
trips access to better care and expertise that may not have been available in
their local vicinity (Vrettos, 2024). Computers are essential for research in
the healthcare industry; they play an important role by allowing professionals
to access and analyze data (Hargreaves, 2022). Advanced imaging technologies,
such as computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging,
generate high resolutions that computer algorithms can analyze (Vrettos, 2024).
Computer literacy is crucial for people in this environment
because they hold important patient records, and they are responsible for
managing those appropriately. Computer literacy in healthcare can bring quick
test results and treatment plans while keeping the patients engaged and
informed. Reduced errors and data security are also reasons computer literacy
is crucial.
